Recent SR4S assessment training in Philippines

January 2019: iRAP’s Managing Director – Strategic Projects Greg Smith recently facilitated Star Rating for Schools training in the Philippines. Delegates from Automobile Association Philippines attended a training course which included an overview of iRAP and provided an introduction to SR4S assessments using the app.

The training explored the theory informing the Star Rating coding attributes, use of the Coding Manual and in-depth discussions on how survey locations are selected. Using this knowledge, delegates were then able to put what they had learnt into practice during a SR4S field assessment of a local school and a comprehensive discussion of results afterwards.

Delegates discussed the importance of engagement and ownership by the schools and local community, and that the goal is to promote road upgrades and be able to do Star Rating assessment of all sites after the improvements have been made to demonstrate safer journeys for children to and from schools. Delegates were keen to continue to practice and upskill themselves with the SR4S app.
