Como parte de la Eighth Global Meeting of Nongovernmental Organizations Advocating for Road Safety and Road Victims (Global Meeting), Star Rating for Schools partners gathered in El Salvador on the 6th of March, 2023.
During the meeting, iRAP presented where the SR4S programme is now and what is expected moving forward with the development of the programme. Alliance members were presented with the roadmap to get involved and incorporate SR4S as part of their initiatives.
The agenda of the meeting included a presentation of Amélie Le Maux, Communications Manager at Fundación AIP, sharing their successful case scaling up school interventions and their recent work on a School Zones Guide in Vietnam.
Salvador Morales, Application Engineering Specialist at 3M, also shared their global campaign improving 100 school zones by 2024, and the organisation’s experience engaging governments with support of SR4S.
Harpreet Singh, President of Evitar accidentes, also shared his experience as an Accredited Reviewer for the SR4S programme, ensuring consistency and reliability of assessments with SR4S.
Rafaela Machado, Star Rating for Schools Coordinator, finalised the event presenting the upcoming SR4S model update, which will be deployed in the first half of 2023. As part of our commitment to ensure that SR4S reflects the latest research, evidence and experience our partners in using SR4S around the world, we conducted a review of the model that underpins SR4S. As a result of the review, we have identified a number of enhancements that can be made. This review was performed under the guidance of the iRAP Global Technical Committee.
During the meeting, iRAP launched the new SR4S mobile app. It has been developed based on the feedback provided by Socios principales de SR4S over the last years, and has new and enhanced functionalities, such as:
- Now available for Android and iOS
- Data collection offline
- Simplified installation process
- Enhanced coding screen
- Coding guide available within the app
- Improved layout
- Automatic synchronisation of data
iRAP also announced that Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential Plc, has become a Global Programme Partner in the Clasificación de estrellas para escuelas (SR4S) programme. In this collaboration, Prudence Foundation will contribute funding to the SR4S programme to make streets safer for children to travel to and from school. Read more here.
Thanks to the outstanding work of Lead Partners around the world, more than 1000 schools have been assessed in 63 countries, and 253 of these locations have been improved and reassessed with SR4S.
