In Armenia, the Automobile Federation of Armenia — FAA, in collaboration with the Armenian Association of the Official Representatives of Automobile Manufacturers (AORA), successfully implemented a school safety initiative focused on improving road infrastructure near schools. Supported by the FIA – Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile Road Safety Grant Programme, with funding from the FIA Foundation, the project began in September 2023 with safety assessments of nearly 40 schools in Gyumri and Vanadzor using the iRAP Star Rating for Schools (SR4S) tool.
As a result, two schools were upgraded to 4- and 5-star school zones through the installation of safer crossings and improved speed management measures, helping to support safer journeys for children. This project is a clear example of how partnerships between FIA Members, local stakeholders, and global tools such as SR4S can deliver practical road safety outcomes.
