A third school – Jardín Infantil Pequeños y Pequeñas Artistas preschool has been upgraded and assessed with SR4S by Automóvil Club de Chile this year in addition to Hernán Olguín Maibeé School and Jardín Infantil Las Vizcachitas preschool.
Automóvil Club de Chile partnered with the Comisión Nacional de Seguridad de Tránsito (CONASET in Spanish), Fundación Espacio Lúdico and the Municipality of Puente Alto. The project is also supported by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Region IV – Latin America.
The critical location leading to the school entrance was upgraded from 1-star to 4-stars with the implementation of a raised pedestrian crossing and 30km/h speed limit to help reduce the operating speed of vehicles. Additionally, new traffic signs and school zone flashing beacons were installed and new road markings were painted to enhance the visibility of preschoolers in the school zone.
