From 5 to 7 April 2022, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will host the Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum 2022 to discuss how transport will work in a changed world due to COVID-19 and its impacts. The forum will include a series of special webinars and dedicated, online sessions to bring together the expert community and discuss the acceleration of change in transport and mobility.
As part of the pre-forum events (28 March – 1 April), the Asia-Pacific Road Safety Observatory will host a special session “School Road Safety: accessible, inclusive and safe”. Traffic injury is the leading cause of death for children globally. Many countries and cities are responding to this challenge with step changes in street design, traffic speeds and people’s behaviours to ensure safety in school travel. This session will present leading practice in school road safety and celebrate the growing number of success stories from country practitioners.
The webinar programme will be moderated by David Shelton, Senior Transport Specialist (Road Safety), ADB, and will include as speakers:
- Mariella Castillo, Health and Nutrition Specialist, UNICEF
- Trang Truong, Program Manager, Asia Injury Prevention Foundation
- Emily Carr, Deputy Director for Programmes and Sustainability, EASST
- Rafaela Machado, Star Rating for Schools Coordinator, iRAP
- Sabrina Hoong, Senior Officer, Road Safety Projects, GRSP
The session will take place online on the 30 March, from 2:00 PM Manila time/GMT+8.

The Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum serves as the premiere gathering of experts, government counterparts, and stakeholders in Asia and the Pacific to discuss the region’s transport issues, the applied and potential solutions to these issues, and the future of the sector. - Provide an opportunity for representatives of the Asian transport expert community to develop a greater understanding on key transport issues in the present and near future.
