The ability to immediately measure the before and after safety impact of interventions (or predicted impact) is valuable for decision makers, lead partners, the community, media and donors alike.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot studies also identified a range of needs from the different NGO partners ranging from pure advocacy to technical assessment and detailed treatment optimisation. This requires a flexible approach to implementation and also the recognition that the current version of the SR4S app and website primarily meets the needs for a robust evidence-based technical assessment. Pure advocates can benefit from an even simpler introductory approach, while more detailed treatment optimisation needs may be best met using the full iRAP model, software and systems used by road owners and RAP partners worldwide.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>ROAD MAP 2020 \u2013 APP, WEBSITE AND TRAINING<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The inputs provided by the lead partners during the Pilot Phase 1 have been evaluated and will lead the application enhancements incorporated as part of the Pilot Phase 2. The Phase 2 rollout will see the completion of improvements to the mobile app and website as highlighted in Figure 1.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-723\" src=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Road-map-2020.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1542\" height=\"917\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>FIGURE 1: Road Map of development of SR4S<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2019, lead partners and organisations already working with SR4S will immediately benefit from an improved version of the tool, addressing some of the main requests of lead partners during the pilot phase:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ability to work offline;<\/li>\n<li>store coding data in the device;<\/li>\n<li>improvements to the website that will include enhancements to dashboard reporting and data handling that will facilitate future improvements planned during the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In May 2019, iRAP will offer the first webinar training to present the tool and build capacity on the data collection exercise. The training will be available by invitation only and will address the main technical needs identified during the pilot phase, from the selection of data points to the development of reports presenting the results.<\/p>\n<p>In July 2019, a package of new features in the app and the website will be released to optimize data collection and refine the collection of some of the road attributes.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2019, the styling of the website and the tool will be upgraded, to offer a clean and intuitive layout and help users to manage their data more easily.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2020, a new webinar training will be offered to local organisations interested in getting ready to conduct their own assessments from February 2020 onwards. This training offer will be available to all the organisations that would like to participate and become certified users of the SR4S tool.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in February 2020 the tool will be globally launched. The system will also be available in the Spanish language and benefit from a new SR4S Demonstrator tool. The Quality Assurance process of data collected will also be enhanced.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, in February 2020, following the completion of all priority software and system upgrades, the tool will be globally launched. The system will also be available in the Spanish language and benefit from a new SR4S Demonstrator tool. The Quality Assurance process of data collected will also be enhanced. This second Pilot Phase will allow those Lead Partners who are comfortable and confident with using the Star Rating for Schools app and website to continue with their successful programmes. This rollout will benefit from the completion of all of the immediate high-priority improvements to the mobile app and website in Figure 1.<\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-723\" src=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Road-map-2020.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1542\" height=\"917\" \/><\/p><p><strong><em>Figure 1: Road Map of development of SR4S<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>From April 2019 onwards, lead partners and organisations already working with SR4S will immediately benefit from an improved version of the tool, that is more stable and addressing some of the main issues highlighted by lead partners during the pilot phase:<\/p><ul><li>ability to work offline, preventing the data collection from being affected by internet connection stability;<\/li><li>store coding data in the device, improving the tool stability and preventing duplication of schools registered;<\/li><li>software issues related to conflicting information in Intersection and Curves addressed to prevent the application from ceasing to work.<\/li><li>improvements to the website that will include enhancements to dashboard reporting and data handling that will facilitate future improvements planned during the year.<\/li><\/ul><p>In May 2019, iRAP will offer webinar training to present the tool and build capacity on the data collection exercise. The training will address the main questions and technical needs from lead partners identified during the pilot phase, from the selection of data points to the development of reports presenting the results, and include assignments to ensure that all the users have the same level of knowledge on how to use the system. An additional module supporting the scale up of training to local partner networks (train the trainer) will also be offered to lead partners interested in supporting their local sub-partners and related organisations in using the tool.<\/p><p>In July 2019, a package of new features in the app and the website will be released to optimize data collection from refine the collection of some of the road attributes. In the same month, iRAP will release resources to support local organisations who are not yet actively applying the Star Rating for Schools approach to prepare for assessments in 2020. This will cover key preparation activities including identifying high-risk locations, planning school assessment projects, seeking necessary approvals and clearance for teams, engage stakeholders (e.g. Lead Partners, school, donor, road agency, education department) and get ready for the global launch of the tool in 2020.<\/p><p>In October 2019, the styling of the website and the tool will be upgraded, to offer a clean and intuitive layout and help users to manage their data more easily. In January 2020, a new webinar training will be offered to local organisations interested in getting ready to conduct their own assessments from February 2020 onwards. This training offer will be available to all the organisations that would like to participate and become certified users of the SR4S tool.<\/p><p>Finally, in February 2020 the tool will be globally launched, during the Third Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Sweden. The system will also be available in the Spanish language and benefit from a new SR4S Demonstrator tool. The Quality Assurance process of data collected will also be enhanced.<\/p><p>As with all products and systems it is expected that there will be ongoing development needs and new improvements identified by Lead Partners around the world.
