This project integrates three key technological initiatives:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2022\/09\/show-me-the-way-big-data-reveals-highest-risk-schools-in-vietnam\/\">Big Data Screening<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/youth-engagement-app\/\">Youth Engagement App (YEA)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/\">Star Rating for Schools (SR4S)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Key takeaways from the session:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Government Buy-In<\/strong>: Greater government buy-in allowed the project to directly influence road safety decision making.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Public-private partnerships<\/strong>\u00a0involving multiple partners (government, AIP Foundation, iRAP, Anditi, GRSP) and funders (Fondation Botnar, FIA Foundation, Prudence, Boeing) have developed as a strong and successful method for improving road safety and the well-being of young people and children.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Evidence-based advocacy:\u00a0<\/strong>Leveraging evidence-based and internationally recognized tools like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/\">Star Rating for Schools (SR4S)<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2023\/09\/irap-receives-google-support-to-advance-the-un-sdgs-and-road-safety\/\">AI, satellite imagery<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2022\/09\/show-me-the-way-big-data-reveals-highest-risk-schools-in-vietnam\/\">big data<\/a>, to identify problems, assess risk factors and demonstrate the value of investing in safe infrastructure and safe speed in school zones.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Capacity building:\u00a0<\/strong>Developing local expertise in applying advanced technologies to fully leverage their benefits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Youth as Assets<\/strong>: Youth are out-of-the-box thinkers, digital natives, fearless changemakers, and key target road users (#1 victims of road crashes).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Meaningful<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Youth Participation includes<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Forming relationships,\u00a0<\/strong>understanding the youth community.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Building the foundation\u00a0<\/strong>by identifying barriers and needs of youth participation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Establishing councils, systems, or feedback mechanisms\u00a0<\/strong>to bring youth into decision-making.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Youth Meaningfully Participating\u00a0<\/strong>to define proposals for road safety interventions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strengthening\u00a0<\/strong>participatory processes through monitoring and evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The success of an initiative is often the result of multiple contributing projects, such as Vietnam\u2019s school zone safety initiative led by AIP Foundation, which has been built on efforts like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/2024\/03\/aime-empowering-youth-for-safer-roads-becomes-a-reality-across-vietnam\/\">AI&amp;Me: Empowering Youth for Safer Roads,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aip-foundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Safe-School-Zones-Guide.pdf\">Safe School Zones Guide<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aip-foundation.org\/celebrating-five-years-of-the-slow-zones-safe-zones-program-prioritizing-safe-school-zones-to-safeguard-every-childs-journey-to-school-across-vietnam\/\">Slow Zones-Safe Zones<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-teams=\"true\"><span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">Thank you to all our presenters, it is fantastic to see everyone come together to deliver and share their efforts in making school journeys safer for all Vietnamese students.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Recording\u00a0and presentation slides now available<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The #RAPKnowledgeLive Session 10 recording is now available, along with the presentations slides (see links below)<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_video src=&#8221;https:\/\/youtu.be\/YWd3MMiry5U&#8221;
