{"id":1725,"date":"2021-01-27T04:47:05","date_gmt":"2021-01-27T04:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.starratingforschools.org\/?p=1725"},"modified":"2021-02-12T06:36:31","modified_gmt":"2021-02-12T06:36:31","slug":"child-friendly-streets-for-coimbatore-city-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/hi\/2021\/01\/child-friendly-streets-for-coimbatore-city-india\/","title":{"rendered":"\u0915\u094b\u092f\u0902\u092c\u091f\u0942\u0930 \u0938\u093f\u091f\u0940 \u0907\u0902\u0921\u093f\u092f\u093e \u0915\u0947 \u0932\u093f\u090f \u092c\u093e\u0932-\u0938\u0941\u0932\u092d \u0938\u0921\u093c\u0915\u0947\u0902"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit;\">The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aitd.net.in\/\"> AITD (Asian Institute of Transport Development)<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/indiarap.org\/\"> IndiaRAP<\/a> are helping to create child-friendly streets and improve non-motorised transport infrastructure in Coimbatore City, Tamil Nadu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Twenty-nine\u00a0\u00a0pedestrian hotspots and 295km of cycling routes across Coimbatore are being targeted for safe access to walking and cycling as part of the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH project, in cooperation with the Coimbatore\u00a0\u00a0City\u00a0\u00a0Municipal Corporation (CCMC) and the GFA-WRI India-Wuppertal Institute consortium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">IndiaRAP supports the project:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">\n<li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">using\u00a0<a style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\" href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/\">Star Rating for Schools (SR4S)<\/a>\u00a0to measure the risk children are exposed to on their journey to school;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">Star Rate an existing urban street and improved design prepared under the project; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\">conduct training and capacity building for stakeholders.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Coimbatore-school1-1024&#215;321-1.png&#8221; title_text=&#8221;Coimbatore-school1-1024&#215;321&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Coimbatore City is one of 3 Indian cities the \u201cIntegrated Sustainable Urban Transport Systems for\u00a0 Smart Cities Technical\u00a0 (SMART-SUT)\u201d Project is targeting to address the safety and micro level\u00a0 accessibility issues faced by vulnerable users.<\/p>\n<p>The project, due for completion in June 2021, aims to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>create key processes of identifying and addressing accessibility issues around schools through a complete streets approach;<\/li>\n<li>enable CCMC processes to conduct SR4S school zone safety audits; and<\/li>\n<li>enhance decision making to improve school zone safety in the city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Project findings will support the City NMT network plan being prepared by the GFA-WRI India-Wuppertal Institute consortium with the support of national and international experts.<\/p>\n<p>The project is part of the Government of India and Germany joint technical cooperation fostering a sustainable urban transport system. GIZ is implementing the project with the Ministry of Housing\u00a0 and Urban Affairs as a political partner.
