YEA is an interactive platform that enables young individuals to identify and report road safety conditions in the vicinity of their schools with ease, contributing to tackling the biggest killer of their generation \u2013 road crashes. With its global scalability, YEA is expected to transform school safety in countries such as Vietnam, Chile, South Africa, and Peru.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Engaging youth in road safety initiatives is crucial as they bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to longstanding issues, fostering a culture of responsibility and awareness among their peers. These projects funded by Fondation Botnar, FIA Foundation and Google.org aim to enhance road safety education and engagement among students and support the direct contribution of young people in the school zones national programme.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n A recent co-creation workshop with students played a pivotal role in shaping the future of YEA in Vietnam. During this workshop, students provided valuable insights and feedback, helping to establish new priorities for the app’s use in the country. Starting in mid-2025, the introduction of the YEA application in three schools in Santiago will further strengthen these efforts, enabling the collection of students\u2019 perceptions of road safety and generating valuable information to guide future interventions in school environments. <\/span><\/p>\n To facilitate the use of the platform, which has been translated into Spanish, an explanatory video was created specifically for students and teachers. The video visually and clearly explains how to use the application. This resource is key to helping children easily understand how it works, encouraging their active participation in identifying road safety risks. This project, spearheaded by members of the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety (YOURS) and MOVISS \u2013 Citizens\u2019 Association for Sustainable Mobility and Road Safety, aims to empower young people to take an active role in improving their communities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n YEA, with its intuitive interface, vibrant visuals, and advanced data visualization tools, is set to support the program\u2019s youth leaders.
