The Zambia Road Safety Trust (ZRST<\/a>) hosted an online \u201ciRAP Helping Save Lives in Zambia\u201d Workshop today, attended by 24 stakeholders, profiling dynamic work underway and planned in the country informed by the iRAP Methodology.<\/p>\n The Workshop\u00a0Programme<\/a>\u00a0(with presentation links where provided) included:<\/p>\n With over 1000 members and volunteers nationwide, ZRST is an operational NGO that plans and carries out boots-on-the-ground projects to support government efforts to address casualty reduction needs of road users, especially the most vulnerable \u2013 pedestrians, children, women, cyclists and motorcyclists. Since launch in 2014, the Trust has provided road safety education on average to at least 15,000 children resulting in a reduction of child road safety deaths from 350 in 2014 to less than 200 children killed every year by 2018.<\/p>\n To read more on how ZRST is helping to make school journeys safer in the country, click\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Zambian Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA<\/a>) is currently\u00a0commissioning a pilot safety assessment<\/a>\u00a0of the country\u2019s strategically important roads using the iRAP methodology.<\/p>\n\n
